Germany, Imperial. A Prussian Observer’s Badge, c.1917

(Beobachterabzeichen). Constructed of silver-plated brass, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a bow tie ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, with a central multi-coloured enameled square checkered insignia on a ribbed field, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse applique in place, with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 46.06 mm (w) x 71.87 mm (h), weighing 20.5 grams, in extremely fine condition.
