(Reichsarbeitsdienst Schiffchen für Offizier). An extremely well-preserved Reich Labour Service (RAD) Officer’s overseas cap, constructed of olive-drab wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, trimmed along the edge with a length of silver aluminum wire piping. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a black rayon base bearing a machine-embroidered RAD insignia constructed of silver aluminum wire with black and red threading. The insignia measures 45 mm (w) x 45 mm (h) overall. An olive-drab rayon liner fully encompasses the interior, with the forehead featuring an intact brown leather sweatband bearing an embossed mark of “QUALITÄTS MARKE”. Stamped onto the crown of the liner is a black ink size mark of “56”, with an additional logo of an unidentified manufacturer. The cap measures approximately 290 mm (l) x 120 mm (h) when folded flat. Presenting free of evident faults, this is a rare example of a RAD Officer’s cap in near mint condition.
