Item #G50232

$268
(Kriegsmarine Tellermütze). A Kriegsmarine Zerstörer (Destroyer) Theodor Riedel blue sailor’s cap, constructed of dark navy blue wool. It features reinforced side walls, and retains a fully-intact tally ribbon, constructed of black rayon and bearing a machine-embroidered gold bullion wire inscription of “ZERSTÖRER THEODOR RIEDEL” in Fraktur script. The ribbon is affixed in place with four dark navy blue threaded bands distributed around the circumference. The interior features a partially-intact black sweatband, and is fully encompassed by a black cotton/rayon-blended liner. It is unmarked with the exception of a white ink size mark of “59” on the crown. The cap measures approximately 245 mm in diameter. It is missing its peak insignia, there is minor wear visible to the tally ribbon, and significant deterioration and loss of material consistent with wartime usage is evident to the sweatband. It is in an overall very fine condition.
