A unique hand-carved trench art plaque commemorating the German (Luftwaffe) occupation of Banak, Norway, constructed of partially-stained wood, the obverse consisting of a stylized shield split into quadrants, with one each bearing a polar bear, an inscription of “BANAK”, a date of “1943”, and a Nordic Cross-style flag, topped by a German national eagle with featuring executed in exceptional detail, clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, unmarked, measuring 126 mm (w) x 238 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
