Germany. An Azad Hind Medal with Swords, by Richard Souval of Vienna

(Azad Hind Ordensmedaille mit Schwertern). c. 1942-1945. A round silvered zink medal; the obverse depicting a leftward facing tiger’s head, with a fleur-de-lis, and inscribed “Azad Hind” in capital lettering; the reverse inscribed “Indiens Freiheits Kampf” (German - India’s Fight for Freedom); with swords attached to the top of the medal; on a loop for suspension; measuring 36.39 mm in diameter; weighing 21.4 grams. Accompanied by its paper packet of issue; marked “Azad Hind Medaille” on the obverse in black capital lettering, and “R. Souval Wien VII” in the same style on the reverse; measuring 57 mm (w) x 106 mm (h); in overall mint and unissued condition.
