(Schiffchen für Männer der Fallschirm-Panzer-Division 1. Hermann Göring). A rare and well-preserved 1st Fallschirm-Panzer Division Hermann Göring EM/NCO’s overseas cap, constructed of black wool. It is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, gently scalloped at the front, reinforced along the edge with dual rows of machine embroidery. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a black wool base bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 76 mm (w) x 44 mm (h). Directly underneath the eagle, the panel bears a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece slate-grey rayon liner. Stamped onto the right side of the liner is a size mark of “56”, set beneath a Reichsbetriebsnummer (RBNr.) of “0/0535/0045” for an unidentified manufacturer. It measures approximately 280 mm (l) x 120 mm (h) when folded on a flat surface. The insignia demonstrate minor soiling, while small spots of material fatigue are evident to the front left side of the panels and right rear side of the crown, and slight soiling is visible to the interior liner. This rare cap is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
