Germany, Luftwaffe. A Ground Assault Badge, by G.H. Osang

(Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe). Constructed of silvered and patinated zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaying a stylized cloud from which a lightning bolt emanates and strikes the ground, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “G.H. OSANG, DRESDEN”, measuring 42.67 mm (w) x 55.70 mm (h), weighing 30.4 grams, most of the silver finish has been lost and the eagle has loosened from its rivet, in overall fair condition.
