China, Republic. A Rare Chinese Navy Officer's Belt Buckle, c. 1943

Two-piece construction, in fire gilt bronze with red enamelled dot placed at the top, the left piece incorporating the central insignia, illustrating a fouled anchor in the centre, flanked by leaping dragons on either side, with a receiving clip on the reverse and a belt loop placed on its left side, the independent piece on the right end with a belt loop bearing a rectangular tab for placement upon the aforementioned clip, measuring 65.5 mm (w) x 46.2 mm (h) when both pieces are joined together, scattered wear on the enamelled red dot, contact marks present on the reverse of the central insignia, near extremely fine.
