A rare Latvian SS volunteer unit motorcycle license plate, consisting of a six-sided frame, perforated with four holes for rivet attachment to the reverse of the vehicle, the obverse featuring a white painted field bearing a black identification number of “567948” topped by double Sig runes, with the centre bearing an SS unit stamp consisting of a central German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “WAFFEN-SS - SS-GRENADIER-AUS.-U.-ERS.-BTL. 15” for the SS-Waffen-Grenadier-Ausbildungs-und-Ersatz-Bataillon 15 (lettisch), measuring 322 mm (w) x 195 mm (h), both the obverse and reverse demonstrating consistent scratching and loss of paint with consequent oxidation consistent with field usage, an uncommon SS foreign volunteer unit plate in very fine condition.
