Constructed of magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing central raised and crossed swords, above a date of “1942” and overlaying a central monoplane, topped by an inscription of “DEMJANSK” and German national eagle flanked by log pillboxes, the reverse retaining two of four original clips formerly securing the shield to a backplate and wool liner, both of which have been lost to time, unmarked, measuring 50.65 mm (w) x 92.02 mm (h), weighing 11.7 grams, in fair condition.
