1912-1928 Issue. An impressive and large silver star, concave, consisting of an eight pointed star, each composed of multiple individual rays, secondary enameled star composed of multiple individual rays presenting the colours of the Chinese Republic, an elaborate obverse centre presenting a pronounced central red stone, with white enamel surround featuring a grain stock with red ribbon, outer red enameled ring with finely placed pearls, reverse with dual stays and a principle pin assembly, with affixed with cartouche with Chinese characters stating "Order of the Precious Brilliant Golden Grain", measuring 95 mm (w) x 95 mm (h), with crack to central stone, missing single screw on reverse, toned silver, with old museum tag on reverse, otherwise, very fine. 

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
