Constructed of blackened bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “107” for Carl Wild, Hamburg, measuring 36.87 mm (w) x 44.14 mm (h), weighing 13.4 grams, accompanied by a mis-matched but period original package of issue, constructed of light brown paper stock, the exterior bearing a partially-intact owner’s label formerly reading “MANZENREITER RUDOLF, 18992”, a stamped inscription of “VERWUNDETENABZEICHEN SCHWARZ 1939”, and a maker’s mark of “RUDOLF SOUVAL, WIEN”, measuring 57 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), in overall extremely fine condition.
