Germany, Third Reich. A Customs and Border Service Decoration

(Zollgrenzschutz-Ehrenzeichen). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from a period but incorrect replacement ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a raised central wreathed German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE IM ZOLLGRENZ-SCHUTZ” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN BORDER PROTECTION”), unmarked, measuring 42.12 mm (w) x 46.64 mm (h), weighing 22.6 grams, in extremely fine condition.
