Instituted in 1922. Two-piece construction, in bronze gilt, maker marked "MADE IN ETHIOPIA / B.A. SEVADJIAN" on the pin, measuring 71.5 mm (w) x 74.5 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual stays, very light contact, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Most Exalted Order of the Queen of Sheba was instituted in 1922 by Empress Zawditu. It was awarded originally to ladies, but now to both sexes, normally Royal or heads of state, in five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, Knight, but it appears that only the Grand Cross has been awarded.
