(Friedrich-Kreuz). Instituted 12 December 1914 by Duke Friedrich II. (1914-1918 issue). Constructed of bronze, consisting of a convex Cross Pattée with its arms joined through the quadrants by a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central monogram of Duke Friedrich II, the six o’clock arm bearing an institution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm bearing a raised crown, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 37.88 mm (w) x 37.92 mm (h), weighing 13.2 grams, in extremely fine condition.
