(Verdienstkreuz für 1870/71 Miniatur). Instituted 12 May 1871 by King Ludwig II. (1871-1872). Constructed of gilded bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a red Geneva Cross, the revere bearing a central gilt monogram of King Ludwig II, within a ring of blue enamels bearing gilt dates “1870-1871”, unmarked, measuring 14.74 mm (w) x 18.39 mm (h), weighing 2.1 grams, with loss of finish throughout, in very fine condition.
