Germany, SA. A Model 1933 Dagger, by Emil Voos

(Sturmabteilung Dolch). A very well-preserved Sturmabteilung (SA) Model 1933 dagger, measuring 375 mm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 225 mm-long polished magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip and edges. Acid-etched onto the obverse of the blade is an inscription of “ALLES FÜR DEUTSCHLAND” (“EVERYTHING FOR GERMANY”) in Fraktur script. The reverse ricasso bears a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code of “M7/2” for Emil Voos, Solingen. It sits securely within a nickel-plated upper crossguard, marked with eight notches. The handle grip is composed of a single piece of dark brown wood, contoured for a comfortable grip. Inset into the obverse of the handle is an insignia consisting of a silvered German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 25 mm (w) x 15 mm (h). Also inset into the handle is a partially silvered SA insignia, measuring 9 mm in diameter. It completes with a nickel-plated lower crossguard, similarly marked with eight notches, secured in place with a rounded pommel nut which maintains the dagger’s structural integrity. It is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of a brown-painted magnetic metal shaft. Magnetic metal fixtures are secured to both the tip and throat with dual side rivets, with the latter retaining a functional spring catch, firmly holding the dagger in place during storage. Emanating from the throat is a loop for the accommodation of a dagger hanger. The latter is included and consists of a silvered non-magnetic metal spring clip suspended from a short brown leather strap, itself adjusted with a functional non-magnetic metal buckle. Minor issues consistent with age are evident, and include some running marks and oxidation to the blade and loss of finish to the nickel plated features. The dagger is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
