Germany, SS. A 6th SS Mountain Division Nord Trench Art Box with Stick Pin

(Erinnerungs-Kasten mit Anstecknadel). A rare and unique commemorative trench art box, of two-piece polished wood construction, the lid features a raised and highly detailed hand-carved edelweiss with a painted finish, set between an etched inscription of “6. SS GEB. DIV. NORD” for the 6th SS Mountain Division Nord, the interior of the lid bears a handwritten dedication of “ZU DEINEN LIEBEN GEBURTSTAG, ALLES GUTE” (“TO YOUR DEAR BIRTHDAY, ALL THE BEST”), with a date of “26. 5. 40”, two visible rivets securing the exterior edelweiss in place, the lower frame presents plain and with a hollow interior, measuring 190 mm (w) x 110 mm (l) x 50 mm (h) (not inclusive of edelweiss), with minor material fatigue evident, in overall extremely fine condition; accompanied by a stick pin, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, with a black enameled field bearing an edelweiss above an inscription of “NORD”, unmarked, measuring 16 mm (w) x 22 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
