A hand-made ladies’ cigarette case, presumably made by a German DAK (Deutsches Afrikakorps) prisoner of war in Africa for a lady waiting at home; constructed of aluminum - the exterior of the lid depicts an exotic castle, the interior of the lid depicts a ship with the inscription “In Remembrance of Africa 1945 - 46”, the interior of the backside depicts the leftward facing portrait of a lady within a frame, and the exterior of the backside is inscribed “Afrika” with an Egyptian landscape consisting of pyramids and a phinx statue in the background; with a functional spring catch and stud release, and a functional hinge; measuring 131 mm (w) x 84 mm (h); hand-made, in overall extremely fine condition.
