In silver, front cover engraved "FROM OFFICERS / 2/4 Bn THE BUFFS. / - TO - / SGt G.R. CLAPHAM. / 1917.", maker marked with the Arthur & John Zimmerman Limited insignia, marked with an anchor (made in Birmingham), the British lion and date marked "r" (1916) on the inside front cover, maker marked with the Arthur & John Zimmerman Limited insignia, marked with the British lion and date marked "r" (1916) on the inside back cover, measuring 87.3 mm (w) x 135 mm (h) x 18.5 mm (d), push release on the right side, hinged on the left side, missing its elastic restraining straps on both inside covers, contact marks on the exterior, spotting on the interior, very fine.

Footnote: G.R. Clapham enlisted as a Private (201725) with The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment) and served with the 2nd Brigade, 4th Battalion. He was later promoted to Sergeant.
