Romania, Kingdom. An Order of the Star, V Class Knight, Military Division, c.1940

Ordin "Steaua Romaniei". Instituted in 1877. Type II (1932-1947). In silvered bronze with red, green and blue enamels, cypher of Carol I on the obverse centrepiece, measuring 42.7 mm (w) x 68.5 mm (h) inclusive of its crown and laterally-pierced ball suspension, intact enamels, scattered silvering wear, on a replacement military peacetime ribbon with hook and eye, near extremely fine.

Footnote: The Order of the Star of Romania is Romania's highest civil Order and second highest State decoration after the defunct Order of Michael the Brave. It was originally awarded in six grades: Grand Cross with Collar, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
