A pair of social welfare medals, including a Social Welfare Decoration, III Class, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with white enameled arms, overlaid by a central black enameled German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, with details highlighted in gilt, unmarked, measuring 40.14 mm (w) x 44.55 mm (h), weighing 16.9 grams, with oxidation and loss of finish evident to the frame, in overall very fine condition, and; a Social Welfare Medal, IV Class, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Geneva Cross, overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing an inscription of “MEDAILLE FÜR DEUTSCHE VOLKSPFLEGE” (“MEDAO FOR CARE OF THE GERMAN PEOPLE”), unmarked, measuring 38.00 mm in diameter, weighing 24.2 grams, with total loss of silver finish evident, in very fine condition.
