Constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse bearing a central raised and leftward-facing profile of Prince Regent Luitpold, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR EHREN-VOLLE VIERZIG DIENSTES-JAHRE” (“FOR FORTY YEARS OF HONOURABLE SERVICE”), the three, six, and nine o’clock arms bearing a date of “12. MÄRZ 1911”, the twelve o’clock arm bearing a royal crown, unmarked, measuring 36.58 mm (w) x 40.96 mm (h), weighing 19.9 grams, with minor loss of finish evident, in near extremely fine condition.
