Germany, Wehrmacht. A Schellenbaum Centrepiece

(Schellenbaum Herzstück). A centrepiece for a Wehrmacht Schellenbaum, constructed of chrome-plated hollow bronze, each end completing in a finely-detailed eagle’s head, with each mouth bearing an integrated loop and suspension ring, the underside of the crossbar featuring 14 holes formerly accommodating suspension rings, the centre bearing a hollow vertical shaft for the insertion of a pole, unmarked, measuring 1060 mm (w) x 325 mm (h), with signs of wear and use evident, including loss of finish and denting, as well as the loss of 11 of 14 suspension rings, in overall very fine condition.
