Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Grand Duchy. An Order of the Griffin, Civil Division Knight’s Cross Miniature in Gold

(Greifenorden, Ritterkreuz Miniatur in Gold). Instituted 15 September 1884 by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV and Adolf Friedrich V. (1884-1918 issue). Constructed of Gold with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross, the obverse with red enameled arms and a central raised Griffin, the twelve o’clock arm with a fan suspension, unmarked, measuring 15.00 mm (w) x 15.65 mm (h), weighing 1.3 grams, in extremely fine condition.
