(Eierbecher). A unique and rare personalized egg cup from the estate of Manfred von Richthofen (the “Red Baron”), constructed of silver, the exterior bearing an engraved inscription of “M./LB. BRUDER MANFRED, FROHE OSTERN IM FELDE, 1916, V, S./TR. SCHWESTER ILSE” (“MY DEAR BROTHER MANFRED, HAPPY EASTER IN THE FIELD, 1916, YOUR LOYAL SISTER ILSE”), indicating that the cup was sent to von Richthofen as an Easter gift by his sister, the opposite side of the exterior bearing an engraved von Richthofen coat of arms, the base bearing a silver content number of “800”, a crown and crescent moon indicating German manufacture, and the hallmark of Wilhelm Binder, Schwäbisch Gmünd, measuring 48 mm (w) x 62 mm (h), weighing 27.7 grams, accompanied by its period original customized storage case, constructed of two pieces of interlocking card stock in an egg shape, the exterior decorated with an Imperial German red, white, and black ribbon intertwined with faux flowers, the interior retaining an original paper liner, unmarked, measuring 75 mm (w) x 110 mm (h), accompanied by its period original Feldpost box, constructed of two pieces of card stock, featuring a handwritten address to von Richothofen in the field, a truly unique example of memorabilia from the legendary Red Baron in overall extremely fine condition.
