Anhalt. An Alexander Carl Commemorative Medal

(Alexander Carl-Denkmünze). Issued 1848-1849. Constructed of gilt bronze; the obverse depicting the Anhalt coat of arms between an open-ended wreath consisting of laurel and oak leaves; the reverse inscribed “Alexander Carl” centrally, dated “1848-1849”, circumscribed “Seinen braven Kriegern für unterschütterliche treue” (German - To its brave warriors for unwielding loyalty); on a loop for suspension from its period original ribbon; measuring 14.9 grams; in overall good condition.
