Constructed of silver, the exterior featuring a dimpled texture throat, the cover overlaid by a raised and finely-detailed depiction of the Oak Leaves and Swords to the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, opening with a functional hinge and snap button to reveal a shallow interior compartment for the accommodation of matches, bearing a number of marks indicating possible postwar issue to a highly-decorated veteran, measuring 54 mm (w) x 60 mm (h), weighing 46.2 grams, with minor tarnish evident and creating a pleasing aged patina, in extremely fine condition.
