Constructed of field-grey rabbit fur felt, the crown bears a field-grey rayon-blended replacement tassel which hangs over the side wall, stitched onto the peak are dual insignia consisting of an eagle, constructed of black rayon and bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 66 mm (w) x 32 mm (h), above a Totenkopf constructed of black rayon with silver-grey machine embroidery, measuring 40 mm (w) x 36 mm (h), the interior presents plain, unmarked and measuring 192 mm in diameter with a height of 145 mm (h) when worn, mothing and material fatigue is evident throughout, with additional evidence of removal of the original tassel leaving a hole, with the replacement tassel secured in place with an interior pin, in overall very fine condition.
