Germany, Kriegsmarine. A U-Boat Clasp, Second Pattern Bronze Grade, by Schwerin

(U-Boot-Frontspange in Bronze). Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of a central oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by crossed swords, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a U-Boat set across a hollow background, flanked on each side by six oak leaves, the reverse with an integral barrel hinge and fluted horizontal pinback meeting a round wire catcher, designer marked “PEEKHAUS” and maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 76.56 mm (w) x 24.12 mm (h), weighing 19.1 grams, minor oxidation and loss of finish is evident, and the tip of the pinback has been bent and partially cracked, in overall better than very fine condition.
