Bavaria, Kingdom. A Silver Military Medal, by J. Ries

y(Militär-Verdienstmedaille). Instituted on 30 October 1794. Type IV. (1870/71 & 1914-1921 Issue). A circular silver medal, the obverse centre presents the left-facing bust of Maximilian I Joseph, stamped with J. RIES below, circumscribed by the inscription MAXIMILIAN JOSEPH KOENIG VON BAIERN, presented in a custom-made mounting, with replacement plastic instead of glass, the reverse presents a cork backing, measuring 45 mm in diameter, with loop for suspension, and in near very fine condition.
