Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS B-Pattern Oak Leaf Camouflage Helmet Cover

(Waffen-SS Stahlhelmbezug). A well-preserved Waffen-SS reversible B-pattern oak leaf camouflage helmet cover, constructed of multi-coloured cotton duck. One side of the cover features a predominantly green mottle, while the reverse bears a predominantly brown autumn pattern. Each side bears six embroidered cotton loops, stitched vertically in the middle, for the attachment of foliage to the helmet. The cover has three rocker clips, with two at the sides and one at the rear, to ensure a secure fit to the accompanying helmet. The side clips connect to elasticized bands set within the structure of the cover to mitigate material slippage. The cover is unmarked and measures approximately 196 mm (h) x 344 mm (l) when folded on a flat surface. Issues consistent with age and field use are evident, and include fraying of the stitching resulting in multiple small holes through the material, with two large tears to the front seam, as well as minor soiling. The cover is in an overall very fine condition.
