Includes:

1. Second Empire Military Medal: in silver gilt with blue enamels, engraver marked "BARRE" on the reverse, unmarked, measuring 26.7 mm (w) x 46 mm (h) inclusive of its integral loop, replacement ribbon.

2. Third Empire Military Medal: Type III with Uniface Trophy-of-Arms, in silver gilt with blue enamels, dual cornucopia hallmarked and marked with a "1" between the cornucopias on the obverse, measuring 27.3 mm (w) x 46.5 mm (h) inclusive of its trophy of arms suspension, original ribbon. Intact enamels, very light contact.

Together, near extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The Military Medal was instituted on January 22, 1852 by Napoleon III and awarded for courage and devotion to duty.
