A pair of medals, including a Friedrich II Merit Medal, Silver Grade, constructed of magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a leftward-facing profile of Grand Duke Friedrich II, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a wreathed inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST” (“FOR MERIT”), the obverse engraver marked “RM” for Rudolf Mayer, measuring 38.20 mm in diameter, weighing 27.8 grams, in near extremely fine condition, and; a Field Honour Cross, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original trifold ribbon with combatant’s device, unmarked, measuring 40.45 mm (w) x 40.47 mm (h), weighing 22.0 grams (inclusive of ribbon), with minor chipping evident to the enamels, an uncommon veteran’s decoration in near extremely fine condition.
