Germany, Wehrmacht. A German Cross in Gold, Heavy Version, by C.E. Juncker

(Deutsches Kreuz in Gold). Constructed of gilded and patinated tombak with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a double-overlaid radiant starburst pattern, with a central silvered disc bearing a black enameled mobile swastika, within a circular laurel leaf wreath wrapped in ribbon, joined together at the bottom by a plaque bearing a date of “1941”, surrounded on both sides by red enameled rings, the reverse with five visible rivets securing the obverse features in place, with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, the pinback maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “2” for C.E. Juncker, Berlin, measuring 63.16 mm (w) x 63.22 mm (h), weighing 58.8 grams, with minor scratching and loss of finish evident to the enamels and base metal, respectively, a classic heavy version Juncker with an uncommon Präsidialkanzlei mark, in extremely fine condition.
