(Brosch mit Etui). Constructed of silver, the obverse consisting of a ribbed circular disc reminiscent of a Viking-era shield, bearing knotted designs topped with ball finials over a hollow background, the reverse with a horizontal pinback meeting a functional locking catch, the centre stamped with a silver content number of “900” and a maker’s mark of “GAHR, MÜNCHEN” for the firm of Otto and Karolina Gahr (the preferred silversmith and jeweler of the NSDAP), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and partially-intact hinge cover, with a slotted black velvet bed, closing with a functional spring catch with exterior stud release, the lid liner similarly maker marked “GAHR, MÜNCHEN”, measuring 76 mm (w) x 96 mm (l) x 24 mm (h), with minor material fatigue evident to the case, a rare Gahr brooch in extremely fine condition.
