Constructed of gilded silver with multi-coloured enamels,consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms highlighted in gilt, the obverse with a central gilt medallion bearing a raised crown, within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD IS WITH US”) with arabesques, the reverse with a central gilt medallion bearing a raised monogram of King Wilhelm I, within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt institution date of “DEN 18 OCTOBER 1861”, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop bearing a circular gilt clasp with a raised number “50”, with a period original length of ribbon, unmarked, measuring 43.76 mm (w) x 47.50 mm (h), weighing 15.7 grams, loss of gilt finish evident in addition to some flecking of the enamels, in overall very fine condition.
