Constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from a period correct replacement ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, the suspension loop bearing a partially-legible maker’s mark, measuring 42.25 mm (w) x 46.56 mm (h), weighing 16.2 grams, accompanied by a custom presentation case, constructed of a lacquered wooden frame, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former featuring a strap for ribbon storage, with a depressed white felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 70 mm (w) x 86 mm (l) x 23 mm (h), featuring a card stock insert bearing a full-coloured embossed depiction of the award, above a handwritten owner’s name and presumed award date of “22. 11. 1917”, measuring 58 mm (w) x 75 mm (h), a superb personalized set in extremely fine condition.
