Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original triangular ribbon, the obverse bearing a leftward-facing profile of Duke Ernst of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central wreathed inscription of “DEM VERDIENSTE” (“TO MERIT”) above a crown, unmarked, measuring 23.52 mm in diameter, weighing 7.5 grams, in extremely fine condition.
