Germany, Kriegsmarine. A U-Boat Clasp, Bronze Grade, by Schwerin

(U-Boot-Frontspange). Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by crossed swords, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, flanked on each side by six oak leaves, the reverse with an integral hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a replacement catch in the form of a screw which has been riveted through from the obverse, designer marked “PEEKHAUS” and maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 76.39 mm (w) x 23.95 mm (h), weighing 18.7 grams, with loss of finish evident throughout in addition to the replaced catch, in very fine condition.
