A unique First World War commemorative pewter stein, consisting of a stylized artillery shell, the exterior featuring an intricate raised design consisting of a central 1914 Iron Cross, set within a square oak leaf wreath, in turn surrounded by a further square laurel leaf wreath, featuring a protruding side handle flanked by an etched measurement of “1/2L”, topped by a dom-shaped lid emanating from a thumbpiece emanating from the handle with a functional swivel hinge, the former bearing raised Prussian imperial eagle set within a square laurel leaf wreath, inset into the base is a medallion bearing a maker’s mark of “F. GLAS, MÜNCHEN” for the firm of Ferdinand Glas, demonstrating some scratching and denting which complement its intended trench art motif, a fantastic example of a wartime-produced commemorative stein in near extremely fine condition.
