A medal bar for First World War service featuring six decorations, including a 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, without visible marks, measuring 43.76 mm (w) x 46.96 mm (h); a Prussian 15-Year Long Service Decoration, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed arms, the obverse bearing a central raised crown, the reverse bearing a central raised number “15” in Roman numerals, unmarked, measuring 36.35 mm (w) x 40.06 mm (h); a Saxon Friedrich August Medal, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a wreathed monogram of King Friedrich August III, the reverse bearing an inscription of “FRIEDRICH AUGUST MEDAILLE”, unmarked, measuring 28.44 mm in diameter; an Austrian Silver Merit Cross with Crown, constructed of silver with enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of Ruppert Cross with red enameled arms, the obverse bearing a central monogram of Emperor Franz Joseph, circumscribed by an inscription of “VIRIBUS UNITIS” (“WITH UNITED FORCES”), the reverse bearing a central date of “1849”, without visible marks, measuring 37.59 mm (w) x 59.77 mm (h); an Ottoman Liakat Medal, constructed of silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon pinned with sword and date clasp, unmarked, measuring 24.59 mm in diameter, and; an Ottoman Sanayi Medal, constructed of silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarke, measuring 31.97 mm in diameter; all suspended from a 165 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a grey wool reverse liner and horizontal pinback, retaining a maker’s label of “J. GODET & SOHN, BERLIN”, the medals demonstrate consistent oxidation and loss of finish reflecting age and wear, with additional soiling of the ribbons and partial detachment of the reverse liner, a high-quality medal bar in very fine condition.
