Germany, Wehrmacht. A Rare General Assault Badge, Special Grade 25, by Rudolf Karneth & Söhne

Constructed of silvered and patinated feinzink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a plaque bearing a raised number “25”, around a central Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, the reverse with four visible rivets securing the obverse fixtures in place, with a crimped barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Rudolf Karneth & Söhne, measuring 47.62 mm (w) x 57.60 mm (h), weighing 33.4 grams, the wreathed demonstrates consistent loss of silver finish and a small spot of oxidation to the obverse eight o’clock position, a rare badge in overall near extremely fine condition.
