Germany, Imperial. A Lübeck Hanseatic Cross

(Hanseatenkreuz Lübeck). Constructed of silvered copper with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with red enameled arms and a central gilt medallion bearing a Lübeck coat of arms, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST IM KRIEGE 1914” (“FOR MERIT IN WAR 1914”), unmarked, measuring 39.66 mm (w) x 42.73 mm (h), weighing 20.7 grams, in extremely fine condition.
