Constructed of silvered and patinated zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a silvered Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, on top of a stylized cloud from which a lightning bolt emanates and strikes the ground, the reverse with three visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a crimped barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Rudolf Karneth, Gablonz, measuring 43.84 mm (w) x 57.08 mm (h), weighing 31.6 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux dark blue leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt inscription of “ERDKAMPF-ABZ.”, the interior with a blue rayon lid liner and partially-intact hinge cover, with a slotted blue felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 75 mm (w) x 78 mm (l) x 24 mm (h), the badge has lost most of its finish and minor material fatigue is evident to the case, in overall very fine condition.
