In blackened bronze, obverse of the cross illustrating the British lion standing upon the Victorian crown in the centre, framed by a ribbon banner inscribed "FOR VALOUR", reverse centrepiece engraved "Hancocks / 409", measuring 34.5 mm (w) x 39.3 mm (h) inclusive of its integral loop, the cross suspended by a ring from a serified "V" attached to the suspension bar decorated by laurel leaves, the ribbon with horizontal pinback. It exhibits flaking of the blackening along the top edge and on the crown on the obverse. A fine Hancocks modern example, remaining extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, walnut brown leather exterior, with gold-coloured trim on the lid, the inside lid in white satin, padded and maker marked "HANCOCKS & CO" (JEWELLERS) LTD 52-53 BURLINGTON ARCADE LONDON W1Y 0HH", slotted off-white felt medal bed, push release, hinged along the back edge, measuring 58.5 mm (w) x 121.5 mm (h) x 24.5 mm (d). Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Hancocks & Co. of London, inscribed "This Limited Edition Replica Victoria Cross numbered 409 was produced as a limited edition of 1352 by Hancocks & Co.
