(Heer Panzergrenadier Schiffchen). An extremely well-preserved Heer Panzergrenadier EM/NCO’s tropical overseas cap, constructed of field-grey cotton twill. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side paneling, held in place at the front by dual pieces of stitching. The cap is flanked on each side by ventilation holes reinforced with brown-painted zink eyelets. The peak of the cap bears an insignia in the form of a machine-embroidered grey threaded Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika on a light brown background, measuring 60 mm (w) x 28 mm (h). Underneath the eagle is a light green soutache, indication Panzergrenadier personnel, surrounded a machine-embroidered cotton threaded tri-colour cockade on a light brown background, itself measuring 38 mm (w) x 36 mm (h). The interior features a complete red cotton liner held in place by multiple rows of machine stitching. The crown bears a black stamped maker’s mark of “CLEMENS WAGNER, BRAUNSCHWEIG-HAMBURG”, with a size of “56” and manufacture date of “MRZ42”. The cap measures 290 mm (l) x 105 mm (h). Minor material fatigue is evident, but the cap is in an overall extremely fine condition.
