(Luftwaffe Pelzmütze). A well-preserved Luftwaffe EM/NCO’s winter field cap, constructed of multi-piece sheepskin. The exterior is composed of the natural hide, presenting with a whitened finished for optimal winter camouflage. Stitched onto the peak of the exterior is an insignia consisting of a dark grey wool base overlaid by a machine-embroidered silver-grey Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 70 mm (w) x 40 mm (h). Underneath the eagle, the cap features a machine-embroidered tricolour cockade, measuring 22 mm in diameter. Completing the exterior features is a protruding, card stock-reinforced visor, finished in hide on the obverse and in a khaki-tan cotton twill on the reverse. The cap has fold-down side panels, each with a side flap bearing a functional magnetic metal snap button. Emanating from the panels are chin flaps, securing together with a loop and button for secure wear. The interior liner is fully lined with sheep fur, presenting predominantly white with black patched. Unmarked, the cap measures approximately 190 mm (w) x 280 mm (l) x 130 mm. There is sporadic, orange-brown soiling evident to the hide-lined features, along with minor, age-appropriate material fatigue. The cap is in an overall very fine condition.
