Constructed of gilded feinzink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an integral clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting an integral catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “26” for B.H. Mayer, Pforzheim, measuring 36.60 mm (w) x 43.90 mm (h), weighing 23.8 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former bearing an LDO logo, with a slotted black velvet medal bed, measuring 68 mm (w) x 68 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), with minor material fatigue evident to the case, in overall extremely fine condition.
