Germany, Wehrmacht. A Gold Grade Wound Badge, with Case, by B.H. Mayer

(Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold mit Etui). Constructed of gilded feinzink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an integral clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting an integral catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “26” for B.H. Mayer, Pforzheim, measuring 36.60 mm (w) x 43.90 mm (h), weighing 23.8 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former bearing an LDO logo, with a slotted black velvet medal bed, measuring 68 mm (w) x 68 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), with minor material fatigue evident to the case, in overall extremely fine condition.
