Germany, Wehrmacht. A 1939 Iron Cross I Class, Relic Condition

(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 I. Klasse). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1939-1945 issue). Constructed of brass and silver, consisting of a blackened non-magnetic brass core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse soldered with a circular magnetic metal disc perforated at the quadrants with eyelets presumably for sew-on attachment, unmarked, measuring 44.32 mm (w) x 44.47 mm (h), weighing 21.8 grams, with some loss of core finish in addition to the absence of the original reverse hardware, a modified relic example in fair condition.
